Get the right ring size

Buying rings without trying them on or giving them as a gift is difficult? We show how you can determine your ring size so that your ring fits right the first time.
First consider exactly on which hand and on which finger you want to wear the ring. Do not be fooled by the appearance: Every smallest, even invisible deviation can be reflected in the ring size. Consider, if necessary, on which second finger the ring could still fit. This will give you some leeway in determining the size. Also note that in warm temperatures, fingers may be slightly swollen. Under normal conditions, well-fitting rings can therefore be a bit tighter in the summer and appear wider on cold hands.
For the actual measurement, there are two options: Either you already have a perfectly fitting ring (in a pinch, try it on friends and family), in which case it will be measured, or you'll have to make yourself a template.
Variant 1: A fitting ring is available

Lay the ring on a ruler and determine the inner diameter as accurately as possible. This is then multiplied by 3.14 (even more precisely: by π). This gives you the (inner) circumference of your ring, which corresponds to the ring size. Example: The inner diameter is 17 mm, multiplied by 3.14, the circumference is 53.38 mm. If the present ring still has play, you can order the ring size 53. If it fits quite tightly, we recommend the next size, i.e. size 54. Here it is useful to also measure the size of the finger that is being considered as an alternative place for the city ring. Also note our notes on the ambient temperature.
Variant 2: A template must her

Now you need to tinker. You need paper, a pencil, scissors and a ruler. Cut a narrow strip of paper, preferably in the width of the city ring of ... mm. Put it around the finger where the city ring will be worn later. Mark the point where the strip meets and cut the paper there. The length of the strip now corresponds to the circumference of the ring and thus the required ring size (see above). Since the knuckle is usually stronger than the lower part of the finger, we recommend fixing the paper strip with tape and carefully pulling it over. If it slips over the knuckle and sits well on the finger, the measurement was perfect.
